The sustainable perfume that I now wear every dayBeauty
I gave up on conventional fragrance years ago. Don’t get me wrong, I used to be a mega fan, and I was for a long time. Exclamation!, JLo Glow, Chanel No5, and more all graced my wrists, neck and décolletage over the years. But in the last 10 years, let’s say, I had really weaned myself off of any heavy fragrances.
About three years ago, I was introduced to EB Florals, a line created by Demi Moore’s florist bestie Eric Buterbaugh. His luxe, rose scent became my go-to going out perfume. And I still love and wear it on special occasions.

Until recently though, I hadn’t found a sustainable perfume that I wanted to wear on the daily. I had heard about The 7 Virtues for years — the Canadian brand has a storied history and it’s founder Barb Stegmann is a rock star in the clean beauty space. But I had not tried the brand myself until I called in some product for a segment that I was doing on The Social (I am happily a regular guest on the show, talking about all things green beauty!). For a segment on how to freshen up after hitting the gym, I called in product from The 7 Virtues. Not only did Barb connect with personally via email, she also invited me to a talk she was having in Toronto a few weeks later. And she sent in product for the segment that was the perfect fit. I snagged a rollerball of the vanilla woods scent and I have been hooked ever since. It’s an easy, delicious fragrance that is not over-powering, and is made from sustainably sourced vanilla from Madagascar. If only every brand took as much care as Stegmann when it comes to sourcing ingredients, perhaps we wouldn’t been in the current climate mess that we’re in.
