Reviews From My Best Friend

One of the things that I love about beauty is that as an editor, I have access to a plethora of products, basically on a monthly basis. Another is that, if a certain item comes across my desk that might not be suited for my skin type or my hair needs, but is from a brand that I love, I can pass this promising new formula along to my best gal.

Our friendship works because we have a lot in common, but also because there are some major differences between us. Case in point: She has long, thick, wavy brown hair (that I would die for!), but she is also prone to more break-outs than I (which I am sure she would trade one tenth of her voluminous mane for!).

To begin this series—because trust me, I often rely on her for insight into products, among a great many things—I handed over a prized position, Tata Harper Clarifying Moisturizer.  Trust me, I rarely give up anything from Tata Harper. Harper is the eco-friendly goddess who’s farm in Vermont is a botanist’s dream laboratory where she grows the hundreds of all-natural ingredients that go into her high end line of skincare and makeup. And I love everything that I have used from her line of prettily packaged products. And I was hoping my best friend would, too.

Without further ado, here is my best friend’s review of the Tata Harper Clarifying Moisturizer ($105, available at Murale and

For daytime use, this product is the best I’ve ever used! It does a great job at moisturizing without leaving my lame combination skin feeling oily.  I also have blemish prone complexion and I’m pretty convinced this is helping!  For me, most moisturizers need to “set” for at least 10 minutes before I can apply makeup (to avoid looking like a sweaty mess), but I can apply makeup immediately after using this product. It’s almost like a primer and moisturizer in one.

Plus, the scent is refreshing and the packaging is pretty—I’m sold.
