Gift guides and wish lists are everywhere right now. But let’s give some purpose to our consumption this holiday season by making a purchase that will benefit more than just the person your gifting.
Not all of these brand’s are sustainable per se, but I can always get behind shopping for a good cause. So let’s put our money in the hands of people who are going to do our planet some good.
Oh, and happy holidays!
The And collection, which launched on December 5th, consists of a unisex tee and sweatshirt, and carry Frank and Oak’s ethos at heart: That true inclusion comes when we embrace and celebrate the things that set us apart. The Montreal-based brand worked with Petites-Mains on the fabrication (PM supports immagrant women in need), as well as Equitas (recognized for supporting equality and human rights). $5 from each sale will go to the foundation and its initiatives.
Me to We’s mandate has always been to give back, but this holiday season they launched a line of chocolate bars (um, delicious!) and coffee blends, to help provide education, clean water, food and health care to their partner communities in Ecuador. Shop the collection at Longo’s, Me to We, Mastermind Toys, Grocery Gateway or online at metowe.com.
Each year The Body Shop partners with a worthy charity and for 2017 they will be donating proceeds from their holiday gifts to International Alert, to help provide refugee children a safe space to play in the coming year. Click here for more info.
If you share a love of holiday ornaments with a family member or friend, snag them this cute felt Orca from the Drake General Store. Ten percent of the proceeds from each will go to the World Wildlife Foundation. And it’s on sale, so extra score?
Canadian sustainable brand KOTN has taken some of their earnings to give back to the community that sources their super soft cotton. Working with an NGO in the Nile Delta, KOTN plans to open 50 single classroom schools in underprivileged villages in Egypt, where they source all their organic fabric. With the help of sales from Black Friday and Cyber Monday, they just opened their second school. So buying a well-priced cozy sweater for a loved one will help a child who deserves an education? Done and done.
This season L’Occitane has partner with UNICEF to help fight Vitamin A deficiency, the leading cause of preventable childhood blindness as well as other preventable diseases for children. A portion of proceeds from select Shea Butter Gift Sets will be donated to UNICEF to help up to 300,000 children.
