The Green Beauty Community Comes Together for a Holiday Pop-Up in TorontoBeauty
On Thursday, December 6th, the MNDFL Green Beauty Pop Up will take over a 3,000 square foot industrial loft space in Toronto’s east end, as a celebration of eco-conscious beauty in this country. For the third year in a row, Graydon Carter of Graydon Skincare is bringing together multiple green beauty brands for a one-stop-shop of all the best the sustainable beauty industry has to offer in Canada.
I spoke with Graydon on why this event is so important for the ever-expanding green beauty scene, what her biggest challenge has been and more. See you there!
*Why did you decide to start the MNDFL Green Beauty Pop Up?
Cultivating community for me is very important. Canada has a tremendous amount of green beauty talent; we all have something unique and special to offer. Instead of viewing these brands are competitors, I believe that all of the MNDFL brands that my team and I have curated, have a social impact, and vision to elevate and make beauty better. Given that our vision is similar and our products are uniquely different, why wouldn’t we bond together to celebrate ourselves, and to offer our shared customer base a tremendous opportunity to find all of us under one roof?
*As the pop up has evolved, what brands have you most been impressed with?
I think that’s an impossible question to answer! Curating the brands we chose to participate in MNDFL was a diligent, and very mindful endeavour. There is such a diversity in the brand categories, that it is truly hard to single out one brand over the another. We have skincare, hair care, body care, men’s grooming, makeup, tools and accessories. Everything from luxury serums, to deodorant, foot scrubs, baby care, nail polish, supplements can be found at the show. It is a very diverse mix, but the common thread is that every brand has incredible green, clean ingredients.
*What was the biggest challenge to starting the pop up? What have you learned the most through this experience?
I’ve learned most that the green beauty community is an incredible one. I personally know nearly all of the brand founders, and we are such a uniquely supportive group. We cheer each other on, we share information, we genuinely like each other. It’s a very uplifting sector to work in! Of course we all want to be successful in our respective businesses, but supporting each other and doing mother nature, and thus our customers, a favour makes us excited to hop out of bed each day. The biggest challenge, let me tell you, is that it’s a tremendous amount of work to curate over thirty, high-level beauty brands. We choose from over 150 Canadian green beauty brands, and it was not easy to organize everyone, and keep our costs down (since this is a not-for-profit event). Our vision is to make this an event that is an enjoyable experience for all parties involved: the brands, our customers, and media attending. We have carefully brought on amazing food sponsors to support us, so that everyone is well fed and hydrated throughout the day. This is not your typical trade-show, this is a fun and joyful celebration of Canadian green beauty.
